SESSION 1: WAR CRIMES - AN OVERVIEW (10.45-11.15)
A Historical Review of War Crime
Prof. Michel Chossudovsky

  • We are at an important crossroad in our life because US and UK have launched a war on global conquest. In return, we have to reverse the tide of war. The greatest threat to war criminals is truth and breaking of collision.
  • At no point has humanity been so close to destruction. The Bush administration is planning to launch a nuclear attack on Iran to "make the world safer" on the pretext that Iran is a threat to global security. These attacks are still in the prelim stage. We are told that the use of these ‘harmless attacks' are to go after terrorist.
  • A Pentagon quotes states legitimizes these attacks because ‘if Saddam is the most wanted man in Iraq then it is acceptable to use nuclear weapons to decapitate the regime'
  • The US has redefined the use of nuclear weapons, claiming it safe for war. They are using the most effective use of weapons and believe their own propaganda that these weapons are safe. There are now more weapons that will make nuclear weapons look like toys
  • There is a military build up in the Persian gulf on the grounds that the US wants to go after the terrorist. The region that they are interested in that area is because it is 60% of the world's oil.
  • ¾ of the oil reserve are in Muslims countries such as Nigeria, Egypt, Indonesia and Malaysia. If these lands were in the hands of Buddhist then the US would demonize them as well because the war is profit driven and conquest.
  • Bush and Blair are not the only ones involved as the issue is multi layered and cannot be resolved by just impeaching the leaders.
  • The neo- criminals did not invent war crimes. Former President Truman started the Truman doctrine that has all the elements of war and how interventions are started by US intelligence.
  • To date there are 44 US military operations against countries. There have been 10 million deaths in Korea and Vietnam as well as targeted assassination that acknowledged by CIA. In turn the US claims that the victims are responsible for their death because they are communist.
  • There is also mounting evidence that many of the suicide bombing in Iraq are instigated by occupiers and that the terrorist are fabricated by the Special Forces. Similarly, the liquid bombers in UK did not have passports or boarding passes
  • The Truman diary shows the world will note that the first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, a military base. It was done to minimize collateral damage.
  • George Keenan was the state dept advisor and devised a few criteria for war. He said that US has 50% of global wealth and Asia has 6%. The US wants to devise a war to maintain this inequality. This is the economic and political agenda for US.
  • Prof. Chossudovsky says he has seen 2 of the largest coup in the world: Chile and Argentina where the US stages a war and runs a puppet government. We have now continued this doctrine.
  • The US believes that UN has served a purpose but has caused more problems now. The US only wants to participate in UN as much as it serves their purpose.
  • The balance sheet of war crimes: more than10 million casualties. In Korea, 30% of the population was killed. There are other wars such as in central Africa, a US sponsored war in Congo and Rwanda.
  • The map of the world has been redrawn. We have readdress the main issues of sovereignty and reverse the tide of war. To do this we have to build vast network of citizens, confront criminal natures. We do not achieve it just by impeaching bush.

There are now plans to extend the war to Iran. If that happens, the entire region will flame up and we will be in a world war 3 area.
