War Crimes in Iraq
Dr. Saeed Hj Almusawi (replacing Ms Rana Al Aiouby)

  • Greetings and salutations
  • Urge the world to support the resistance in Iraq because peace in Iraq is world peace.
  • Many believe that the US will lead world peace. The first problem was in the Kuwait-Iraq conflict where US could not lead the world to peace. The US had its own agenda and none of the goals had anything to do with its role in the UN Security Council.
  • Since the emergence of the unipolar leadership, US dismissed all regional effort to deal with peace in Iraq.
  • US lead the sanctions against Iraq. It cost the lives of 2 million Iraqis. The sanctions were imposed 4 days after the occupation of Kuwait. The US ignored Chapter 6 in the UN convention that provides for peaceful methods of solving conflicts.
  • Under the pretext of chapter 6, they invaded Iraq, killing thousands of Iraqis and destroyed many infrastructures. The US sanctions and unilateral efforts has destroyed Iraq for many generations
  • The speaker witnessed how US changed the Security Council to a rubber stamp. US has many ways of gaining support such as offering millions of dollars in loans to countries that agree to vote in their favor. Many African countries are concerned that if they do not vote according to what US wants they are jeopardizing their country.
  • We have to raise the awareness of the world to what the US is doing in Iraq. Many Americans have resisted the genocide against Iraq.
  • The world showed sympathy when the US faced the attacks in 9/11 but since then US has used that excuse to invade Afganistan and Iraq
  • US has since disbanded Iraqi special force, looted the country, established political parties based on racial and sectarian divide that is destroying the social fabric of Iraq. They have incurred excessive violence against Iraqi people where 6500000 people have been killed since the US take-over
  • The US has committed many crimes against Iraq, used depleted uranium bombs and destroyed entire towns.
  • The US occupation faced much resistance from Iraqi citizens. Only on paper have they transferred power to Iraqi
  • The number of attack on US troops has gone from 50 per day to 70 per day in June 2006 and 180 on Oct 2006. These figures do not include attacks on private bodies and mercenaries in Iraq. Today, the US cant fight a war never mind win it.
  • Iraqi army is being demonized and does not have any help but is still able to defeat the US army.
  • The US army announced that they will no longer fly Apache helicopters in Iraq are it is prone to attacks.
  • International institutions need to be reformed to make it immune to manipulations.
  • Peace long citizens can prevent their countries from going to war.
  • We have to win the propaganda war to prevent war from happening. Unless we criminalize war we cannot consider ourselves civilized.
